I got my EAD card yesterday. I am still waiting for receipt number for I-485 / I-131 though.

I called USCIS today morning, response was by end of this (oct)month they will complete all data entry for I-485. He told that last week they did lot of entries for July 2 and we should see the receipt number any time soon.

thanks for taking the initiative and donating again manish1905. It is sad to see only a few 100 'active. Most people want to see results before donating, but most don't realize we can't get results without thousands working first for many months.
So its up to us to work extra hard to achieve things that will benefit 500,000 people.
Things like Visa Recapture, which benefit 100s of thousands benefit everyone including EB3, as there are only about 40-60,000 EB2s left.

been in us since 1999 and lost my earlier priorty date and now my priority date is Jan 2007...it sucks...the only good thing is i now have EAD and AP. everyone who is here fro last 5-6 years should be current with priority dates..

140K GCs are available on Oct 1. But, dates are not current. Based on this, there appears to be a law that prevents USCIS from recieving ALL AOSs. I am guessing that this law specifies a cap on AOSs that USCIS can recieve from lawyers. (This is why I am keen on knowing conditions for setting dates in VB)
The following argues that it is hard for this cap to reach exactly on the end of every month.
no it will not be voilation of the law at all. consider this scenario thats been going on for the last 30+ years. For example July 2006 visa bulletin for EB2 india was jan 2003 and the August 2006 visa bulletin for EB2 india was unavailable. EB2 india visa numbers might have already been used up when the August 2006 visa bulletin was released but they still accepted the AOS petitions filed until the end of July 2006, they did not issue an updated visa bulletin or a revised visa bulletin saying eb2 india numbers are used up and they will not accept eb2 india aos applications, they continued accpeting AOS applications until the end of july 2006.

when american's from such third rate schools are not getting jobs, do you seriously think foreigners with their funny accents and relatively poor English communication skills (I'm Indian and can tell you its still a second language to me) can get jobs??
The market has a way of regulating itself. As someone mentioned above, there were a a lot of H1 space available from 2001-03. But it never got filled because there were simply not enough jobs. Lets not try to set up govenment intervention here....let the free market decide....that is what made this country great.
btw, NumbersuSA, FAIR and other restrictionist organizations have zero credibility because they oppose even legal immigration.

got my receipts today.
Case Details:
i-485/EAD/AP sent on 7/25 and reached NSC on 7/26 for my self and my wife.
i-140 still pending at NSC.
Got the receipts for all 6 cases from lawyer today.
i-485 for me and my wife got transfered to TSC and pending.
Case status shows Received on 7/26 and EAD approved for me and my wife from TSC on 09/26.
AP pending in TSC.

as gc28262 has indicated, that proper analysis and the correct interpretation of the law is needed to change such matters. Unless, EB3 people come out of the lethargic content/self pity and start working on the issues as if their life depended on it (it does) - just writing to the senators and representatives will not help. The legislative offices is not going to do the analysis (in the time that matters to us) and address it to the USCIS. However, if we do the ground work and then approach them, we may have a better chance of succeeding.
Whenever EB3 asks for writing to senators and congressmen, EB2 folks will discourage, but when Eb2 wants to write to the same group everyone encourages.
Why is this pathetic response to a Eb3 guy.
Please remember prior to BackLog days there was not much difference in time span for getting a GC and Employers wanted to cut back on paper process and used to file in EB3 only.
SO please never say High caliber as EB2. there are highly experinced and excpetionaal guys in EB3, but due to Employers negligence and bad luck they are in EB3.

I just visited last month. I stayed there for 6 weeks...
Agree that economy is booking but....
(1) too much pollution.
(2) No infrastructure to handle cars and two wheeleers.
(3) too much mosquito even in winter/summer. I do not know what will happen in rainy days.
(4) prices for every item have gone up by 3X..Most of the item I am not able to justify the rise. The quality of the product has not gone up.
(5) easy to set up business..get house...get car but tough to drive peacefully...need to pray god every morning so that we come back home with 2 hands and 2 legs and unbroken body parts.
(6) Club culture is booming too...so if you have daughter who is teen then need to check by that angle too.
Just my two cents....

there is something that pulls me back to and we are also thinking we will go back in the next couple of years. It will not be easy as we love this country too...but then one of the main reasons we are going back is the way is the culture here... I am not very comfortable with the culture here and would like my kids to have the Indian culture...I agree there is a lot of westernization back home too...but I guess there is some hope there still to have a little control on the kids...or help them go the right way...here I am not saying it is wrong...but is a totally different culture....which is what I am not able to digest....

Current Status: Card production ordered.
On July 26, 2008, we ordered production of your new card

Another thing I just noticed is a LUD on my I-140 which was approved a year ago ( july5th 2007)
The lud happened on 7/27/2008.
I got my card today.
It starts on the next day of my old cards expiry date.
Validity is for one year only though.
Current Status: Card production ordered.

What exactly is the point of this rambling debate? Does anybody really thinks he/she can make an EB2 see the point of view of EB3 or vice-a-versa? No amount of legal/moral/philosophical arguments is going to convince the other party and we all know it.
All this debate has done is to bring out the ugliest side of all of us to the surface. There are EB2s claiming every EB2 is by definition superior than EB3 which is insane. And there is an EB3 who is itching to take help of none other than Ron Hira to shot down somebody's GC application as a retribution and couple of people applauding him for the brilliant idea! Really? Do we really thinks this is such a grand idea?
Just accept that everyone's only guiding principle here is self interest and move along. No need to jump through hoops to interpret the immigration law in 101 different ways and no need to call attention to personal suffering and plight. If we do really believe personal suffering should take precedence over everything else on humanitarian grounds then lets all first fight for illegal immigrants since their suffering is much worse than anyone here!
EB3s, go run your campaign and stop trying to appeal to EB2's sense of justice. That will never happen.
