When is the next congress session? is it in Nov/Dec (the so called lame-duck session). I am wondering about chances of having some immigration measures during that session. Being a lame-duck session, do congressmen can take up a serious measure like immigration for discussion (either CIR or SKIL)? If not - is it possible to introduce some highly desirable stop-gap measures like: ability to apply for 485 during retrogession; recapturing the unused visa numbers from previous years with soft country limits (as is done a few years back); and faster backlog reduction at BEC�s. In short I am wondering about our strategy for next 4-5 months; and is there a hope - however small it maybe � hope of getting something done this year; Or our only hope is with next congress?

how do you track if the money order was cashed?
Check your money order receipts (or stubs) .Most of them will have official website (for instance western union) where you can track your MO .They will also provide customers with 24 X 7 toll free access number where you can check status.
You can also request photo copy of cashed MO but you will end up paying 12 bucks are more on each MO .Hope that helps...

Please do so so they receive a variety of letters. I've done it. I e-mailed them and faxed them with my personal letter and with a letter based on Iv template. This is our time so please guys don't give up and fax your personal letter.

I got an email today from USCIS stating this
Current Status: Card production ordered.
I did not receive any other approval notice. I hope this means that our 485 is approved and the cards have been ordered ?
My PD Is May 2003

Usually there will be another message "Notice welcoming permanrent resident sent" . Then, after a few days there will be "Approval notice sent" , the physical approval notice goes to your attorney. You should receive the physical card within 7-10 days.

Tell me what wrong he did for him to apologize and I will apologize to you. When nothing is permanent he worked with them for 1 and half years, he got them 4 employees. Why in the world should he apologize?.
When you say that you will not need your clients you are wrong. when I was searching for projects I got a chance to apply to a job opening in one of my previous client, guess what, the start to my second stint was smooth just because I had a good rapport with my client and they liked my work. I even got one of my team mates in my client place to give me a referral for my higher studies.
"Your ex boss is not a bad guy, he knows you are leaving for better opportunity".He is not only a bad guy, he is evil IF (note the big IF) he is keeping the money which is not his. Their conscience should prick when they feed and give excellent education to their kids with the ill gotten money.
Unfortunately one might need his ex-employer in future (might not always be the case) and that is the irony of it all.
What wrong he did? Nothing illegal but certainly not the best practise. Atleast he has been insensitive to his former employer.

Though they didnot break any law in writing, they had the intent to not give any relief to people who are eligible to apply in july as per the old bulletin.
The intent itself is ulawful.
Alos in rushing to use all the visas, they might have given visas prematurely to applicants who had no clearence.
The only thing we could do guys , is to get a lot of media attention , make the whole world know about our problems....
If we dont get the GC yearly number increased for India , we should plan to go back,..

I had a chance to file in EB2 with master's degree but my attorney screwed it up and filed in EB3 category instead and now i can't even port to EB2 as my company is no longer supporting new PERM applications due to bad economy. I am usually optimistic but with the current economic conditions and bleak chances of any immigration fix, I feel we are fighting a losing battle. God help us all in EB3 category.

This is what my lawyer mailed us today (I have always had good service from him):
In my very initial thoughts, on July 2 and July 3, I believed the lawsuit had no chance; but in following this more closely and doing my own research, I think increasingly that the lawsuit has merit. USCIS and DOS appear to have violated various of its internal rules and arguably actual statutes and regulations in handling all this.
Not that I am holding my breath, but just wanted pass it on....

In Fox News this afternoon, the senator has explicitly said that the Chicago lady does not have any "constituional rights" since she is not American citizen. Go figure what they think about us.

Do you know who received it at Nebraska Center? You will find the name of the person who received it in FedEx/DHL/UPS delivery confirmation based on the tracking no. you provide while checking status. Was it M. Schwitzer?
Me and two more of my friends sent our respective petitions on July 27th at the same time thru the same lawyer. All these petitions were received in separate FedEx packets by this guy M. Schwitzer on 30th July. All of us are on the same boat..... no receipt notices, no encashed checks...
My applications ( I-140; I-485; I-765) were mailed on July 27th to NSC and they had acknowledged received on JULY-30th as per the mail delivery confirmation.
Today I recieved a note from my lawyer that the receipt notice has been issued for all of my applications.
Phew that was a relief as I was about to leave to India soon and was worried about travelling without the receipt number.

File 485 on your own Man - They are even contemplating even in issuing the Employer letter.
They are telling me that let the PD retrogress again - we will go by H1B :)
My situation is not any better. I am working for a GA based company since 2001 got stuck in the backlog center with Priority Date Oct 2003 (labor apporved in Nov 2006 I-140 applied in May). After calling the company HR for 30-40 times in last one week I was able to talk to HR guy, he said the ceo will allow only those who have approved I-140 to apply for I-485. He also said then once priority date retogressed again I will be able to get 3 years H1B ext. that will be good for me.:mad: I think these desi blood sucking compnies will be obsolete in couple of years. If USCIS make the rules better.
I was thinking of disclosing my employers name but then I will never be able to file I-485

Santosh_gc, I agree with you when you ask "how can illegals be granted a path to citizenship, etc" I am from Mexico and I am as much against that as you, or even more! All those illegal aliens are essentially getting a free ride and the U.S. is trying to act all "Mother Teresa" with them just to attract the vote of Hispanics. It's sickening!
