Yes, but the immigration hearings already happened. People already have a clear indication on what the public wants. Lou Dobbs is still out there reminding them. Honestly, I wish us good luck, but I am not sure.

Most of the opinion polls are evenly split: if I remember correctly a popular opinion poll said that most Americans want to solve the immigration issue and they also are fine with putting illegal immigrants on path to citizenship. They also want to have more border security provisions � most of these aspects are covered in CIR. Of course illegal immigration issue is controversial and CIR may never succeed in its current form irrespective of who is in control of congress. A democrat leading congress may not venture into too controversial aspects of immigration fearing a backlash during presidential elections. The backlash they fear is energizing the extreme right wing. A republican leading congress anyway won�t pass CIR bill.
That�s why our best bet is SKILL bill � this is relatively non-controversial, good for American industry, and supported by different groups. Of course it is very difficult.

I am a physician working in underserved areas in MN. I am greatly appreciated
in my community. I regularly get invited to Christmas parties by local congressmen. I never attend those due to my family obligations. However, this year I will attend and educate my congressmen as much as I can.
I am sure there are lot of physicians, like me affected by retrogression. Eventhough we live in remote areas, we can do whtever we can.
I am also willing to join in MN local chapter of IV. Any MN members kindly send me PM.
pls post your note on the Mn local state chapter thread and get in touch with other members.

I am also frustated with GC process. It is literally controlling my life...
I don't want to go India because not sure whether I would get Visa or not. I don't want to join some prime vendor company because not sure whether they would start GC process immediately or not, and vendor could terminate the job immediately after contract expiration or any other issue. As everyone knows that desi employers are blood suckers and on top of it H1B extensions are very tough to get with them. I was almost on edge of leaving the country on my last extension.
With desi employer, It looks to me that my career goal is only GC. I don't know when I get that and I am sure that my goals will be none after getting GC because I would be exhausted by then....

Any volunteer for the letter. We will need to move fast ! God knows what Oct bulletin has in store for us.
My biggest worry is that the bulletin may show retrogressed dates and the dates will stay there as it is till last quarter when visa flow will take place.

if the only way to reduce the backlog of EB3 is to port to EB2, why EB3 category at all. Just remove that category... Maybe lawyer's should come with a better alternative than giving this lame advice. EB3 category are still employed for the past 10 yrs - shows that they are required-then why not fight to get their number of visas increased or the spill over be applied to them equally as to EB2.

My frined got receipt from TSC yesterday, his attorney sent package them on 31st , I think they got it on June 1st. He has not got finger printing notice yet.
I applied on May 18th 140/485 Nebraska, Got receipt on May 28 from TSC with finger printing schedule after 2 weeks. 140 got approved on 23rd May.
Friends, My friends is saying if the New bill approves then we might have to re-apply again, even wealready have applied 485, is this True? I am bit confuse, I aksed to my Lawyer he said your Labor and 140 is New , he cannot tell anything at this point. If the person is already applied and waiting for Card should be effected, any opinion?

I have convinced a few people at work to do this. Their point is, if we really want to do this, let's do it in a way that works. After receiving a few deliveries, USCIS will get the idea and direct it's lobby security to refuse all further flower deliveries. What's our plan for that situation?
How did the people who delivered nuts to CBS make it happen? The delivery was actually done via UPS. It's difficult to refuse a UPS packet in the security lobby! Should we send chocolates via UPS instead? It will be much more difficult to refuse deliveries of chocolates.
Does it matter if the flowers make it inside the building? What matters is that the media knows about us sending those flowers! The florists will tell them how many flowers they delivered! Besides, if we have a 100 people sending flowers they would have a tough time refusing all of them!
My hope is that 100 becomes a 1000!

If many EB3-I folks are getting GCs then why is EB3-I PD stuck in 2001? Shouldn't it move?
I feel where you are coming from; I am also from the waited four years to get approved from filing 485 club.
btw; every person I know of from India who has gotten green from October 2008 were those eb3 guys who converted to eb2 through perm labor. I have a feeling that this is going to cause a lot of stress to eb2 as many people have been able to obtain old priority dates through eb3. It is taking longer for eb2 ROW to get into 140/485 que and would cause more visas to be spilled over. If labors were getting approved fast then there would be less spillover in this fiscal year.

In order to understand the situation please look at Macaca's post on anticipated usage as opposed to real usage. Apart from politics and other pressures, biggest reason for revised July Bulletin is June bulletin itself !!!. June bulletin had a biggest jump in dates in recent past (aside from doomed July bulletin). This lead to a huge number of fillings in June, no one knows how many at this time, but looking at the way receipts are coming out from USCIS they have not finish with receipts of first week of filers. DOS unaware of such huge spike in fillings went ahead and made everything current based on available number of visas. The only way this could have been avoided was USCIS communicating with DOS that June AOS fillings would suffice to exhaust the quota for the year. If the communication between the agency had been sound they would have made everything "U" in the first June bulletin itself. But when the bulletin was out it was too late to do anything. The only thing USCIS could do, was to exhaust the Visa numbers as fast before July 2 the date when flood gates were supposed to be opened. They did just that. That's the ONLY way USCIS could affect DOS bulletin, nothing else would have worked. As far as timings goes, why not early or right after when they realized that June AOS fillings would exhaust the numbers, perhaps because ONLY way to put a hard stop to any filings in June is exhaust the actual numbers not the anticipated demands. Remember exhaustion of the number is the only way to put a complete stop in fillings, anticipated demands are used only to set the dates in the bulletin. That explains the timings, USICIS needed every single day in June to finish the numbers and they just did that!!!!
In conclusion reversal of bulletin is less of a conspiracy and more of the bad planning and execution and primary reason for reversal is June bulletin�s big jump. That�s my 2 cents on the matter.
But that does address the question: if they can finish those cases in such a short period of time, how come they did not process those cases earlier? Contributing everything to communicating and planning is a stretch. They are definitely factors. But not the factors. What about wasting of visa #s in prevous several years! :confused:

But what about others? I have several friends who have a B.S,/ M.S / phd in chemistry, art, sociology, agriculture but have limited opportunities in India. They would love to explore oppotunities in US , Europe or any developed country.
India and other developing nations have other priorities. The government would rather help the poor or improve infrastucture then fund a research project.
